ATX & AI: Three companies with offices in Austin innovating with AI — Zoho, Arm and IBM

• US-headquartered in Austin, Zoho was founded in 2007 by Sridhar Vembu, an engineer who has grown his company into one of the world’s most prolific technology companies based on a long-term vision and a self-sustaining model of no-debt, no VC, and an employee-first culture. Zoho makes cloud-based SAAS software for businesses. With $1B in revenue and 100 million customers, it has 55+ apps in nearly every major business category, including ZIA, an AI engine, and 15 AI-powered apps.

• Arm is a Cambridge-based company with a southwest Austin office that architects, develops, and licenses software platforms and power-efficient CPUs. Because AI's GPUs require power-efficient CPUs, Arm’s power-efficient CPUs are literally the building blocks of AI.
Fun facts: 70% of the world currently uses an Arm product and Arm had one of the few successful IPOs last year. Arm is currently working with NVIDIA on the Grace Hopper Superchip, which is designed for giant-scale AI.

• Big Blue is back! IBM with a long-time Austin presence, launched WatsonX last year. WatsonX is an enterprise AI and data platform that includes a set of AI assistants. Its customers include the Bank of Scotland, the US Open, and Samsung. IBM reports its profits have jumped more than 20%, and its shares increased 9.5%, closing at a ten-year high last week.
